Walmart tasked Journey with the strategy, design, and execution of a massive virtual player experience on Robox, a platform that has over 65.5 million daily active users. Walmart Land aims to bring the best of Walmart’s ‘isles’ to life in a virtual world.

The Brief

Create an immersive experience to engage the next generation of Walmart customers and connect with them authentically.

Our Response

Journey assisted in the development of Walmart Land. This virtual space offers unique interactive content and entertainment for customers, bringing to life the best of Walmart’s ‘isles’ in a virtual world.

Walmart Land Roblox community members can check out the Walmart ‘isles’ to collect verch, catch top music artists and unlock exclusive interactive content. Walmart Land brings the best fashion, style, beauty and entertainment items directly to the global Roblox community of over 65 million daily users.

We created game spaces and a plethora of experiences; realizing Walmart’s commitment to the changing needs of its customers, ultimately helping them to keep up with the latest developments in Web-3 immersive experiences. Walmart Land debuted with three big experiences: Electric Island, House of Style, and Electric Fest. The virtual store allows users to buy merchandise for their avatars.

Walmart Land features a variety of immersive experiences, including a physics-defying Ferris wheel that gives users a bird’s-eye glimpse of the world and unlockable tokens and badges that can be earned in various games and competitions.

House of Style offers a virtual dressing room, a strike-a-pose challenge, a cosmetics obstacle course, and a roller-skating rink. 

 

The world’s greatest music festivals inspired Electric Island which includes an interactive piano walkway, a dance challenge, a Netflix trivia experience, and a DJ booth.

Within the first two weeks of launch, Walmart Land was featured in over 500 pieces of press and saw 4.9 million visitors.”
