Austin once again becomes the global meeting point for creative industries as SXSW 2026 opens its doors this month.

Journey and its studios will be taking part in several events across the festival, from conversations about the future of virtual production, to screenings of immersive work, and discussions about how digital media is transforming the built environment.

Busting the Myths Around Virtual Production

13 March | 2:30 PM | Omni Downtown, Pennybacker Room

Dimension’s Executive Producer Neil Graham will take the stage on Friday afternoon as part of SXSW’s Film & TV track for a panel titled Busting Myths: Why Virtual Production Isn’t What You Think.

Joining Neil will be Miles Perkins (Director, Client and Industry Relations, M&E at Epic Games), Annalise Davis (Film Producer, Yellow Films Ltd), and Lesley Manning (Freelance Director).

Despite rapid adoption across the industry, virtual production is still widely misunderstood. It is often associated solely with visual effects or large scale Hollywood productions, or seen as a technique suited only to specific genres such as science fiction or in car scenes.

Drawing on real production experience, the panel will explore how virtual production is evolving into a powerful and accessible filmmaking tool. The conversation will look at how these techniques can support storytelling across the entire production pipeline, from early creative development through to final delivery, giving filmmakers greater flexibility and creative control.

Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of Our Universe

14 March | UK House, Palm Door on Sixth

On Saturday, there is a special screening at SXSW’s UK House of Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of Our Universe.

Created in collaboration with composer Eric Whitacre and the Space Telescope Science Institute, the film takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from Earth to the furthest observable reaches of the universe. The SXSW presentation features a refreshed version of the project, offering festival audiences an opportunity to experience this immersive work in a new context.

When Space Meets Screen at Futurespaces

16 March | Futurespaces at The Dogwood

Later in the week, Journey will join a wider conversation about the growing convergence between physical environments and digital media.

Journey’s Constance Nuttall will take part in the panel When Space Meets Screen, alongside David Glicksman (Gensler) and Emilie Baltz. Hosted by Josh Goldblum, the discussion forms part of the Futurespaces programme at SXSW.

Co-presented with SoDA: Society of Digital Agencies and Adobe, Futurespaces explores how storytelling, architecture, media and technology are increasingly intersecting to shape the environments people experience every day.

The panel will examine how digital layers, media content and immersive technologies are transforming buildings and public spaces into dynamic narrative platforms.
