The Wrecking Crew is an Amazon MGM Studios action-adventure directed by Angel Manuel Soto and starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. Set in Hawaii, the story centers on estranged half-brothers Jonny and James.
Journey stepped in mid-production to deliver previs and postvis, working at pace to support the evolving needs of the film.
The Challenge
At the center of the brief was a three-minute Honolulu highway chase, featuring a Chrysler Pacifica pursued by motorbikes and a helicopter through explosions, gunfire, and collisions. The challenge was to bring clarity and cohesion to a fast-moving, complex sequence, while aligning closely with the intended final film.
Our Solution
Journey delivered previs rapidly to support production decisions, followed by a near 1:1 post-vis match to the final sequence. Working across vehicles, camera, and environment, the team choreographed the action with precision, ensuring continuity and readability across every moment of the chase.
Impact
The result was a postvis sequence that landed an almost like-for-like match to the final and a clear example of how our team can enable continuity and believability to even the most chaotic action.
