Immersive experiences for the world of faith

Our brief would be to design immersive media for three installations at Abrahamic Family House, exploring Faith, Word, Light and Place in the context of the three Abrahamic religions.

The immersive exhibits we created in response look at journeys of faith through everyday lives, the symbolism of light, the importance of the word, and the coming together of faith communities in places of worship. Each installation expresses shared humanity across three distinct faiths. They are rooted in messages of peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, empathy and acceptance promoted by the Abrahamic Family House.

Faith Installation

The first installation, Faith, features eleven petal-shaped AV screens. They showcase moments from the religious journeys of Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Specially commissioned films offer insight into rites and rituals, from coming-of-age ceremonies to festivals and pilgrimages.

In addition, the footage is choreographed across the screens so visitors can move around the space and view each moment from shifting perspectives. Particle effects weave through these scenes. They symbolise personal spiritual journeys. At times they come together to represent celebration and pilgrimage.

Word Installation

The second installation, Word, focuses on extracts from the three holy texts of Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Nine passages from the Quran, Bible and Torah appear across the space to highlight the shared values and teachings across the Abrahamic faiths.

Place Installation

The final installation, Place, explores the relationship between faith and the environments where worship happens. Two immersive LED screens, built into a plinth and the ceiling, present a range of prayer settings. For example, visitors see the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and other spaces for a birds eye view

The immersive sequence begins with wide exterior shots before moving to more intimate interiors. This shift from macro to micro highlights how worship takes many forms. It ranges from collective gatherings to deeply personal moments of private prayer.

Spirit and Light

We produced a unique soundscape for an additional installation, ‘Faith & Light’. In close collaboration with Coda to Coda, we produced unique recordings of religious leaders reading from their respective holy texts. This installation explores the important motif of light and symbolism in religion and worship.

Virtual Twin and Filmaking

We used a Virtual Twin during pre-production. This allowed the team to preview edits, effects and spatial layouts in real time.

Meanwhile, we obtained exclusive filming access to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The team filmed at night and at dawn. They captured the Ablution rooms, the prayer carpets and the central courtyard before worship began. As a result, the final visuals present this remarkable site in a way rarely seen.

We’re immensely proud to have contributed to a cultural project of such importance. The Abrahamic Family House represents a significant moment for interfaith dialogue, and it was a privilege to help bring its vision to life.
