Journey partnered with Nasdaq for a dual bell-ringing ceremony. We created a virtual replica of Nasdaq’s iconic Times Square building, allowing people around the globe to experience the first bell-ringing ceremony in a Metaverse platform, while the physical ceremony took place at the same time in Manhattan.

The Brief

Nasdaq tasked Journey with reimagining and recreating the iconic Nasdaq Marketsite tower as well as Times Square, to bring the opening bell ringing to the virtual world. This was Nasdaq’s first dip into the Metaverse, in an effort to make capital markets more inclusive and accessible to all across the globe.

Our Response

Journey created the first virtual opening bell-ringing experience on Core Games,  a best-in-class Metaverse platform for virtual world-building in stunning high-definition.

Together, Journey CEO Andrew Zimmerman and Journey Co-Founder and Chief Futurist Cathy Hackl rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square and simultaneously in the Metaverse. Journey was joined by some of its metaverse clients and industry partners who helped them celebrate this historic moment.

The livestream of the ceremony took place on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9:20 a.m. on Nasdaq’s Twitter account, and the segment also aired on CNBC.

“Journey is harnessing best practices from physical experience design, conversational AI and Metaverse/Web 3.0 capabilities to meet audiences where they are going with seamless integration” – Andy Zimmerman, CEO & Co-Founder Journey.

“In collaboration with partners Manticore Games Inc. and Journey we took our first step into the Metaverse & it won’t be our last as we continue to find innovative ways to make the capital markets more inclusive and accessible to all.”
