We’ve acquired some potent new powers.

Journey was built with one purpose: to meet today’s most complex design challenges with tomorrow’s most potent design solutions. We reimagine how people experience entertainment, move through airports, pursue an ecologically balanced urban life, and find community and serenity in a complex and noisy world. Though our clients’ audiences are always top of mind, we’re forever seeking new ways to electrify them.

That’s why we’re so excited to welcome the multi-award-winning interdisciplinary studio 59 and creative technology powerhouse VMI Studio to Journey.

We can literally and figuratively design the theater and create the show.

Based in New York and London, 59 conceives, directs, designs and delivers ambitious, large-scale story-driven artworks, stage shows, events and immersive experiences, from Vogue’s just-opened “Inventing the Runway” immersive show in London, to Sting’s sold-out “My Songs” residency in Las Vegas, and collaborations with performers and musicians from Nitin Sawhney, Anne Nikitin and David Bowie to visual artists such as David Hockney.

59 started by revolutionizing the live theater experience for modern audiences, working at the UK’s National Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and more recently on genre-defining shows such as “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” which makes its Broadway debut in 2025. 59 has also collaborated on industry-leading design projects with other Journey partners, including a pavilion for Expo 2025 in Osaka for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (with Foster + Partners). 59 was also a founding partner of Lightroom, a pioneering venue in London and Seoul that creates unique, IP-led immersive storytelling experiences, including “The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks.

The addition of VMI Studio makes Journey the global leader in creative technology and Unreal Engine-powered virtual twins for real estate and architecture clients globally. VMI Studio is one of the fastest-growing creative technology studios in the UK, having earned that position through fearless experimentation and technical excellence — evident in globally recognized work such as “Illuminated River,” a long-term art installation transforming the Thames at night, and “Thresholds,” a virtual reality artwork by Mat Collishaw.

  • TSX

This is studio alchemy at its most powerful. Journey was founded with ICRAVE, renowned for delivering kaleidoscopic, category-crashing interior environments across hospitality, transportation, healthcare and entertainment. We soon after welcomed Squint/Opera, purveyors of positively magnetic and immersive content that moves the needle for some of the world’s most iconic brands. With 59 and VMI Studio, Journey is now a 250-strong global team, pioneering multidimensional experiences (MDX) through our uniquely layered suite of capabilities.

As Andy Zimmerman, Journey CEO, said, “We can literally and figuratively design the theater and create the show.” Over the next few years, we’ll raise the curtain on work that blurs the boundaries between space, story and spectacle.

Together with our client partners, we’ll not just meet the moment, we’ll create the next one.
